What are Domain Auctions?
Domain auctions take place when a domain is being sold. As with any normal auction people bid the amount they are willing to spend on the domain and the highest bidder will win the right to purchase the domain.
Domains are not always being sold by a company, often the company is used as an intermediary for the auction to be conducted. This allows consumers to sell their valuable domains in an auction environment.
An auction will run between set dates in which time the domain must be bid upon in order to sell. When the domain auction is set up the individual may have set a reserve price which has to be met in order for the domain to be purchased. If an individual has sold a domain through an auction site then they will have to pay a sales commission rate which is set by the company conducting the auction.
