What Domain Name Tools and Software exist?
There are many types of domain tools and software available to users which provide a multitude of functions. The aim of domain tools is to allow a user to gain more information about a domain name, and in some cases to manage the domains once they have been purchased. The tools can also help consumers to choose a domain if they are struggling to find a unique name.
The following list describes some of the tools that are widely used on the internet:
- Domain Name Checkers
These tools will allow the user to search for domains names that haven’t already been registered. This is the most common tool that is used by all domain registrars as you can’t purchase a domain which has already been registered. Some also provide the feature to check the WHOIS database so you can find out more information about the current owner of the domain.
- Domain Name Generators
It is common to be searching for a domain that has already been registered. In this instance it can be helpful to use a domain name generator. This tool will take your keyword or phrase and then offer other alternatives which are not currently registered.
- Search Engine Placement Tools
This tool provides details that will show roughly how well the search engines rate a domain name. This is not completely accurate though and will generally be worked out by looking at the amount of link backs the domain has, and these will only be available if the domain name has a history.
- Expired Domains
As many of the top domains are already registered specialist companies offer the facility to look for expiring domains. These companies alert you when a desired domain name is not renewed allowing you the option to purchasing the newly available domain.
